"...WM E.L.M.Monsanto, 1913-14 1933-34. Edwin Louis Mendes Monsanto was my father's
brother. In September 1917, the register would show attending Lodge that evening were:
E.L.M.Monsanto, Jacob Alfred Mendes Monsanto (my father), Samuel Louis Mendes Monsanto
(their father,my paternal grandfather), and Helm Boschulte (my maternal grandfather).
Jacob and Louis were married to two of the Boschulte girls. The third sister married their
other brother , William Wharam Mendes Monsanto, Past Master to the Canal Zone Lodge, I
think it was 1925.
His Past Masters jewel weighs about 3 ounces and is of solid gold. That was back when gold
was $12.50 an ounce...".

"The <above> picture is from Eric Simmons, the oldest son of Engle L.
Simmons, PM. Charles A. Lindbergh was a Mason. He visited St.Thomas with the "Spirit
of St.Louis" when returning to the United States after his Latin American goodwill
tour through Central America to Panama, then surveyed the route up the chain of islands
back to Miami for Pan American. He landed at Mosquito Bay on January 31, 1928, and spent
several days here. The "Spirit of St.Louis" hangs in the Smithsonian Museum in
Washington. The flags of all the countries he visited are painted on the engine cowl. The
U.S. Virgin Islands flag is among them. He <Lindbergh> was made an honorary member
of Harmonic....On the left of the picture is Zenda Paiewonsky...next is Engle
L.Simmons,PM, then Charles A. Lindbergh, next face unknown, then Dr. Knud Knud-Hansen, PM,
then Morris F. DeCastro, PM and Bro. Carl A. Anduze..."
