<HARMONIC Building Facelift Update>
We are pleased to announce that the patching and painting of the South
(Backstreet) and East sections of the Lodge is now in progress !

Many of you are aware that during 2002, we patched and painted the West
(main entrance) side of the Lodge using our own resources. Additionally we
repaired the steps leading to Backstreet and installed exterior security
lighting.
Recently we were fortunate to become a participant in the "Scrape & Paint
Program" which allows owners of historic buildings to partner with the
Anti-Litter & Beautification program in the exterior renovation of such
buildings.
(See St. Thomas Source Article)
The Lodge has had to contribute financially to this effort, in addition to
making further improvements to the air conditioning and electrical
infrastructure of the building which were in poor condition.
This has significantly depleted our Restoration and General Fund. In the
near future, Brethren will be receiving a communication soliciting
contributions to assist with the additional expenses that had to be
incurred.
We will shortly be adding pictures of the restoration project.

New District Banner Dedicated !!

The District Grand Lodge of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Dedicated its new Banner at
the 293rd District Communication held in Barbados in April this year. Through the efforts
of Wor. Bro. Lennie Carty, the Banner was designed by the
Unity Lodge of Instruction in Anguilla using composite ideas submitted by Lodges
throughout the District. The final design was approved by the District Board of General
Purposes.
The actual Banner was Hand Crafted by Ms. Ann Lorna Rudder,
a Barbadian whose immense talent is plain to see in the detailed work she produced. Wor.
Bro. John Still, DGSwd.B worked closely with Ms. Rudder to ensure that
Masonic and Heraldic detail were followed.

Charity News
Recently, Harmonic provided financial donations to two (2) Virgin Islands Community
organizations, Kidscope and the Center For Independent Living.
Kidscope is a private non-profit agency that acts
as a one stop support center to assist children and non-offending parents who are victims
of physical abuse. It coordinates a multi-disciplinary team of professionals from the
following public agencies;
>Human Services (Social Services)
>Public Safety (Police Dept)
>Attorney General's Office (Legal and Courts)
>Health Department (Hospital &
Medical Care)
Harmonic's donation of $1,500 went to help with the purchase of a $15,000
piece of sophisticated medical photography equipment that records/documents high quality
images of bruises and other signs of physical abuse. The quality of photographs provided
by such equipment has been shown to significantly increase the success rate of convictions
against child abusers by ensuring immediate and vivid evidence in Court.
The Center for Independent Living Is an
organization dedicated to providing various types of assistance to aged and disabled
individuals who live alone. Harmonic's contribution was $500.
